Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course is divided into two parts, part 1 and part 2. The first part begins with a lecture and a workshop that focuses on the legal order and legal methods, as a basis for the studies of the different areas of law. The different areas are the covered one by one. As a general rule there is a lecture and a workshop that deals with one area of law each week. The workshops are mainly devoted to discussions of legal problems.

Among the areas of law covered are the law of contract, consumer protection legislation, the law of associations, the law of torts, family law and the law of inheritance and wills, real property law, the law of securities, the law of intellectual property, the law of marketing and competition, European Community law, labour law, penal law and procedural law.

Intended learning outcomes

After having taken the course the student shall have a basic knowledge of the legal order, the different areas of law and the relevant legal concepts, as well as about legal methods and a basic proficiency in solving legal problems.

After having taken the course the student shall be able to:

* Identify basic legal problems and find the applicable legal rules in the areas of law covered by the course.

* Apply the relevant legal rules when solving basic legal problems in the areas of law covered by the course, and to explain the reasons for the application of the rules to the problems.
