Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Cognitive and physical disabilities, the specific challenges these places on the tools and working methods, assistive devices in use today, practical experience of the development of accessible products, social consequences of disabilities.

Intended learning outcomes

The goal of the course is to give the students

  • knowledge about different kinds of disabilities and the impact this has on the use of IT
  • insight into the social consequences of various disabilities
  • an overview of different assistive devices so that the students will be able to
  • understand and design IT-support that is accessible to people with disabilities.

Completed upper secondary education incl proficiency in Swedish and English.

Grading scale

A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Examination

  • TEN1 - Examination, 3.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F
  • LAB1 - Laboratory Work, 3.0 credits, grading scale: P, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

Written exam (TEN1; 2 cr).Exercises (LAB1; 2 cr).There are elements in the course where attendance is mandatory.
