The course introduces various perspectives within architectural humanities: critical studies, contemporary history, historiography, and humanities-based environmental research within the built environment. The course focuses on analysis and discussion of concepts, methods, and artistic practices in architectural humanities in relation to history and theory. The course explores a wide range of sources, such as literature, physical objects, buildings, landscapes, urban planning, films, architectural representations, and environments.

Intended learning outcomes
After successfully completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Discuss current theoretical perspectives within architectural humanities
- Engage in a methodological discussion based on these theoretical perspectives
- Reflect on how place, time, and power dynamics influence the understanding of the built environment
After successfully completing the course, the student should be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Critically analyse and discuss issues related to power, gender, sustainability, and diversity in relation to the built environment, using text and images
- Discuss the use of various types of source material in relation to historiography and critical investigations
- Understand and consider ethical challenges

- SEM1 - Seminars, lecture and workshop, 5.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
- UPP1 - Written report/research project, 2.5 credits, grading scale: P, F
