Basic understanding of the areas of intellectual property rights that pertain to the research domain.
Identify useful information from patent literature, knowledge of the patent system as a channel of information for research purposes, and differences between different forms of publications
Commercialisation of research results- different aspects of commercialising research results and carrying out an inventory of immaterial resources in a project.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
Account for basic concepts in intellectual property law
Search for, identify and evaluate technical information in patent literature within his or her own research domain
Account for the difference between peer review of research publications and peer review in the patent system
Identify commercialisable immaterial resources within a research project
Admitted to third-cycle courses and study programmes at one of KTH's schools

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
A Pass grade requires compulsory attendance in seminars and completed assignments.
