Course syllabus HL101U (Autumn 2015–)The course is online with three course meetings. It is divided into five parts:

On completion of the course, the participant should be able to:
Describe and understand the regulations governing medical devices in healthcare
Determine whether a medical device meets the requirements for being used
Describe how to work systematically for the safe and appropriate use of medical devices
Identify and analyse the risks associated with medical devices in the own clinic
Explain different medical engineering methods that are used for diagnosis and therapy
Present course experiences to colleagues
Admissions requires appointment within Stockholm County Council, completed upper secondary education and skills equivalent to at least assistant nurse with practical experience from medical care.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
Requirement for final grade are approved assignments, online examination and attendance at the course meetings.
