LH220V Project in Educational Science 4.5 credits

The general aim of the course is that the course participants should be able to -- by taking educational science as their starting point -- analyse their teachers' practice, develop a reflective attitude towards their role as a teacher and relate education and teaching within their own field to theory and research in educational science.

Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The aim of the course is that the course participants should present an
individual assignmnent that treats education and teaching within their
own knowledge field related to relevant educational theory of science
and research.

Intended learning outcomes

The general aim of the course is that the course participants should be
able to -- by taking educational science as their starting point --
analyse their teachers' practice, develop a reflective attitude towards
their role as a teacher and relate education and teaching within their
own field to theory and research in educational science.
On completion of the course, the course participant should be able to
• carry out studies connected to students' learning within higher
education and argue for appropriate measures to an increased quality of
education based on current educational theory of science, literature and
research,
• search, collect and autonomously evaluate relevant literature and
research in the area
• make an elaborated choice of method of study and highlight the
strengths and weaknesses of the method and analyse it from an ethical
perspective,
• critically discuss their own and others' results and conclusions from
an educational science perspective
• present studies within the educational science field both orally and
in a way that allows publishing.

Completed and passed LH201V or the equivalent from other university or
higher education institution.

Recommended prerequisites

Prerequisite is LH201V or equivalent.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The course is examined through the following parts:
1. SEM1 - seminars that are examined through written reflections and
active participation (1.5 credits)
2. PRO1 - an educational science study that is examined through a
written report and an oral presentation (3.0 credits)

The course is composed of two parts. The first part consists of studies and reflections on current key concepts and methods in educational science. The second part is a project part in which the participant makes an educational scientific study.
