Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course contains two parts. One language-orientated component in which skills are practiced to communicate successfully in French in academic or professional contexts. Language skills are revised and strenghened through continuous exercises and tasks focusing on issues related to engineering and sustainable development.

The second part consists of a project. The project involves, for instance, co-operation with students from higher education institutions abroad or with relevant actors from the government or the industry. Through collaborations with native speakers, the student can apply their communicative and intercultural competencies in an authentic situation. The project also provides an opportunity to establish contacts with international students and the business community.

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student should be able to:

1. Engage in conversations on topics related to their academic and/or professional field.

2. Understand the main content of authentic texts on topics related to their academic and/or professional field.

3. Give a short presentation on topics related to their academic and/or professional field.

4. Explain different academic and/or work cultures and intercultural situations in order to be able to work effectively in international and multicultural contexts in the technical sector.
