During the web-based course, simple exercises in reading comprehension and essay writing are offered and automatically corrected. Listening comprehension, pronunciation and simple dialogues using everyday vocabulary and phrases can be studied independently. The basic rules for Swedish grammar and pronunciation are presented and tested. Opportunities to learn more about Sweden, Swedish culture, society and technical development. The course has no teacher supervision during the summer and winter vacations.

Intended learning outcomes
The expected learning outcomes for the course correspond mainly to levels A1/A2 of CEFR, the Common European Framework of Reference for Language.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
Listening comprehension
· understand simple phrases and conversations about everyday situations/subjects in slow and clear speech (A1).

· understand information from different everyday texts (A1-A2)
· identify facts from simple everyday authentic texts (A1 - A2)
Speech
· talk about him/herself, family, accommodation and studies using simple phrases and opinions (A1-A2)
· describe everyday situations/subjects with simple language (A1-A2)
Talk and oral interaction
· participate in simple and everyday conversations with slow and clear speech (A1)
· ask and answer simple questions within everyday subject areas (A1)
