Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The model for Swedish administration, Swedish legislation and legal system, general property law, labour law, association law, contract law, insurance law, intellectual property and market law, interprofessional agreements. Analysis and discussion of concrete applications relevant for the student's vocational area.

Intended learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to give the student a broad overview of the Swedish model for administration and the field of civil law, as well as insight into how one works with legislation, legal cases and other legal sources with reference to the student's own vocational branch.

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • Describe the structure, function and contents of the Swedish legal system, as well as the relation between Swedish and international legislation.
  • Describe the model for Swedish administration and the division of responsibility between the national, regional and local levels.
  • Explain the differences between penal law (public law) and civil law.
  • Explain commonly occurring legal expressions and terms in one's own vocational area.
  • For one's own vocational area, apply basic and relevant parts of general property law, labour law, association law, contract law, insurance law, intellectual property and market law to legal problems.
  • Describe the aim of interprofessional agreements, and be able to apply such with reference to one's own vocational area.
  • Account for in what contexts a manager, administrator and/or project manager is expected to carry out legal tasks, and be able to assess when legal expertise is necessary.
