LT1036 Learning as Professional Assignments 8.5 credits

The course consists of an introduction to the subject teaching and learning. In the course, the concept of learning is studied from a number of different theoretical perspectives, including its possibilities and limitations, both in educational/didactic application and in support for educational analysis and explanation of learning situations. The course covers the teacher's tasks and school regulation. The course also gives insight in the history, organisation and conditions and the fundamental value of the school of the school system, including basic democratic values and human rights

After passing the course, the participant should be able to:

1. distinguish, describe and compare the main features and central concepts in different theories of learning

2. use theoretical concepts from theories of learning for the analysis of learning in different situations,

3. based on learning theories analyse empirically collected data in a chosen learning situation and present the results,

4. use theories of learning as tool for critical examination of preconditions for the pupil's learning,

5. discuss the history, organisation, conditions and core values of the school system, including the basic democratic values and the human rights.

Admitted to the programme for Engineering and Education

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

• SEM1 - Seminar, 1.5 credits, grading scale: P, F
• TEN1 - Examination - Learning as professional assignments, 7.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

Based on the recommendation from the KTH office of support to students with disabilities, the examiner has the right to agree on adapted forms of examination for students with a documented, permanent disability.

In re-examinations, the examiner has the right to allow other forms of examination of individual students.
