Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The aim of the course is to prepare the student for a role as leader and follower by providing insight into leadership theory, group dynamics, cross-cultural management and diversity management.

The course is based on an experiential, as well as blended, learning approach which involves both theoretical studies, reflective exercises and practical skill developing exercises.

Intended learning outcomes

After the course you should be able to:

  • Present different approaches within the study of leadership
  • Present selected leadership theories related to leadership on individual, dyadic, group and organizational level
  • Present theories of group dynamics
  • Have knowledge about different approaches within cross-cultural management
  • Have knowledge about diversity management
  • Formulate your own understanding of leadership

Specific prerequisites

A prerequisite for attending the course is that the student has basic knowledge in industrial management, project management or organization theory and is proficient in English.

  • SEM1 - Seminars, 3.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
  • TEN1 - Examination, 3.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

Other requirements for final grade

Full participation in lectures, exercises and seminars. Written examination.
