Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Lectures, seminars and workshop dealing with the management of innovation and creative work, specifically from the levels of companies and individuals. The course will introduce the basic theories of innovation management and creativity, including but not limited to the organization of innovative companies, leading creative work, managing innovation processes and creativity theory. The contents will include both the theoretical state-of-the-art and practice-centered discussions of the creative economy. Particular emphasis will be placed on the challenges of creative work and how an understanding of creativity is important for contemporary management. Examples and literature will be taken both from academic and more practitioner-oriented fields.

Intended learning outcomes

After the course, the participants should be able to:

  • describe the basic innovation process and its management challenges                  
  • identify both common processes and common misconceptions regarding innovation work                  
  • discuss the role of creativity in the contemporary economy both theoretically and in practice                  
  • exhibit an understanding for the management of creative work                   
  • devise a methodology for the study of innovative and creative practices
