Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course deals with an applied topic where previously acquired knowledge is applied and integrated with some new theory introduced. The course content can be divided into three main parts:

- System design of products containing:

o Drive units

o Transmitters

o Joints

- Constructive design

o Load-bearing structures, load introduction

o Power flows, cooling modes

o Material selection

o Manufacturing adaptation

- Documentation and communication

o Drawings

o Dimensioning, tolerancing

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student should be able to:

1. Design and detail mechanical products based on engineering considerations and integration of sustainability principles.

2. Produce load data for mechanical products and their components.

3. Apply different design principles for load-bearing and load-transferring structures.

4. Selecting engineering materials and standardised components of mechanical products.

5. Producing dimensional and tolerance-based manufacturing documentation for mechanical products.

Literature and preparations

Specific prerequisites
