Groups, permutations, homomorphisms, group action, rings, ideals, modules, fields and field extensions.

Intended learning outcomes

The main purpose of the course is to train the student in abstract reasoning and to familiarize her/him with basic algebraic structures. As such the course prepares the student for further studies and research within mathematics and physics.
