Do not forgot to say “YES” — reply to your admissions offers

So finally the selection result has released and it is time to make a decision! In order
to keep your place or to be placed on the reserve/waiting list for the second selection
round, remember to REPLY to your first Notification of Selection Results before April
8nd!

I understand sometimes it is difficult to make such a big decision to a new place. Maybe
there are some questions in your mind to keep you thinking, so here I list some of the
questions that you may need to be answered. Hope it will help

1: Student offer for fee-paying students:

– As a fee-paying student, you will be provided with:

  • Guaranteed accommodation, including Internet access.
  • Designated admissions officer for issues regarding tuition fee waivers and tuition fees.
  • A personal mentor who will guide you with practical queries.
  • On-campus employment opportunities (not applicable for tuition fee waiver recipients).
  • General student insurance.
  • Thorough introduction program and activities.
  • Introductory course in Swedish language and culture.

2: For new students?

KTH arranges an introduction program for newly arrived master’s students, to make sure
that the entry into life at our university and in the city is smooth and to acquaint
students with KTH and Sweden. The introduction program includes activities such as:

  • Pick-up at the airport
  • Delivery of the key to your accommodation
  • Mingle with other newly arrived students
  • Trip to IKEA

3: Where to get useful information?

The KTH International Student Office will also give information about things such as
civic registration number, bank account, health care, insurance and language courses as
well as inform about safety/security and student social life.

The student union at KTH has a service for international students called THS
International arranges a number of social activities as well:

  • The student union also provides opportunities to get in touch with a Swedish “buddy” student, which can be extremely helpful in getting acquainted with life at KTH.
  • Other examples of services provided by the student union include:
  • Café, restaurant and book shop
  • Sports
  • Parties and other events

I can say that after you get at KTH, you will be helped a lot and take good care of. So
there is nothing to worry about. Just say YES and enjoy your new life!

I hope the information will help and more information will coming soon! Keep following :)

KTH Language Café

Do you know that there is a language café at KTH?

It is a great place for you to improve your language skills, learn a new language or help others with your language! Also it is great opportunity to meet new friends, right?

A language café is not a language course, not a formal class; there are no teachers and no rules to follow, just the freedom of speech. Come to the KTH library and check the Language Café out!  :)

Happy Easter

The long Easter weekend is finally upon us, heralding in the start of spring. Easter is an official Swedish holiday that provides two “red days” which allow us the opportunity to celebrate and spend time with family.

Known as “Påsk” in Swedish, Easter is a Christian holiday that occurs at different calendar days each year and has been celebrated in Sweden since 1844. Traditionally, the Swedish celebration of Easter includes a “Påskbord” which often serves eggs, lamb, and salmon. “Påskris” is a decorative component of the holiday which typically involves colorfully adorned twigs.

Hope you have a happy holiday weekend and – don’t forget – the warm weather will be coming soon! :)

New video coming up — KTH Innovation Department

Not long ago I posted a video about my visit to Sandvik. Yesterday I had another chance to make a new video and this time I would like to share a video about the KTH Innovation Department.

The KTH Innovation Department aims to connect research and ideas to business and industry. One of the ways they can do this is by fostering entrepreneurship among students and organizations. The department cooperates with several national and international universities and research centers, and conducts research in four different research groups: Business Development and Entrepreneurship, Corporate Finance, Industrial Dynamics, and Economics.

The department offers a variety of courses as well as two different masters programs. Students can apply to individual courses by following this link:

Of course in this new video, you will be able to see an example from a start up company that supported by the KTH innovation department, also different offers that you can get as a student from KTH. Be patient, the video will come soon :)

Visitors from Bulgaria

Recently I had the pleasure of hosting two very talented engineering students from Bulgaria. They were invited to KTH after going through a selection process that provides students the opportunity to visit the top two Swedish engineering universities, including KTH. They were also afforded the opportunity to visit some Swedish companies such as the Swedish car maker Saab.

During their trip, I showed them around the KTH campus and told them about the student life in Stockholm. KTH arranged meetings with some of the engineering department directors and provided access to facilities. In the afternoon, we shared a typically Swedish lunch at a restaurant inside the KTH campus and talked about our experiences studying engineering.

I enjoyed my time with them very much and I hope they have a very successful career after graduating as engineers!

Do you know about Project China?

Project China is the largest student project with international focus in Sweden. It was established in 2003 with the purpose to discover more about the development of modern China and encourage further collaboration between Sweden and China, for students as well as businesses.
There are many interesting events and one of the biggest events coming up is the China Week (week 20) at KTH and SSE.
The week will consist of a series of China‐themed events, where the highlight of the week is a career fair. This is a much appreciated event where Swedish students have the possibility of networking with companies that operate in China. The week will be concluded with a banquet where participating companies and students are invited.
In addition, for the students in China who are coming to or interested in Sweden, there are opportunities to explore Sweden in China – Sweden Day, is a career and culture fair which will be arranged at two top Chinese universities as well as KTH partner universities, Tsinghua University in Beijing and Fudan University in Shanghai. During the Sweden Day, Chinese students will be able to learn more about Swedish culture and get the opportunity to meet Swedish companies.
Let’s looking forward to the Project China 2013! I am sure it will be more interesting :)
