  • The course includes a project, a lab activity and a submission task.
  • The course ends with an examination covering four hours.

Lesson planning:

    • Lectures, submission tasks, projects and lab
    • Examination torque: Individual exam and group work
    •

Course structure

This course requires that students plan their studies, to participate actively in the scheduled activities and works independently of the course beyond the scheduled time. Lectures and exercises with more supports students in their acquiring knowledge and skills development.

Implementation:

The TENA (40 P)

There will be two parts in the final exam;

  • Theoretical part, where the questions will be about Energy Technology in industrial production based on lectures and reading materials. For each question, you must write the answer to that question.
  • Calculation part, which will be based on the problem assignments. Here you need to calculate answers that are similar to the problem assignments.

Table 1: Rating Criteria for ratings E - A

  For Rating:

After completing the course, the student will be able to:

LM1.   Describe and explain the energy technical concepts and link them to the industrial production

LM3.   Apply the efficiency concept in the various energy processes

LM4.   Explain and describe methods for the conversion between different forms of energy as well as analyze describe and explain energy technical concepts and link them to the industrial production

E:

In order to be approved in the course rating (e) require the student to show that the course learning outcome are met on the basic level (i.e., Overview) by getting on the exam.

D:

More than E-level but not yet C Level

C:

Meet the requirements for E and show greater width (i.e. with security) at an advanced level of skills through to get approval on the exam.

B:

Mre than C level but not yet A-level

   (A):

Meet the requirements for C and show greater depth (i.e. with carefully and large security) at advanced level in their knowledge and in-depth understanding and analysis of the questions on the exam.

  • - To pass the course (grade E), the student needs to show that the course's learning objectives are met at the basic level (ie Overview) by passing the exam.
  • For grade D, it is required that the objectives for grade C are predominantly met.
  • For the grade C: Meet the requirements for E and show greater breadth (ie with certainty) at the advanced level in their knowledge by passing the exam.
  • For grade B, it is required that the objectives for grade A are predominantly met.
  • - For the grade A: Meet the requirements for C and show greater depth (ie with accuracy and great certainty) at the advanced level in their knowledge and through deep understanding and analysis of the questions on the exam.

Rating limits for the TENA (40 P)

  • For rating A: 0 points
  • For rating B: 0 points
  • For rating C: 0 points
  • For rating D: 0 points
  • For rating E: 0 points
  • For rating Fx: 0 points
  • For rating F:less than 18.0 points

Note:

  • Notification of the completion of the score Fx is done by personal visits to the examiner within a week after the exam results have been allocated.
  • The examiner decides, based on a recommendation from the KTH coordinator of disabilities, if any custom examination for students with documented, lasting disabilities.
  • The examiner may allow other examination form at omexamination of individual students.
  • Aids for TENA:
  • Calculator,
  • Your own formula collection notes: 1 A4, front and back handwritten pages with ONLY your own formula collection notes - without any extra notes.
  • Energiteknik Formler och tabeller, ISBN 978-91-44-00233-0- without any extra notes.

  • INLA (10 P):

-          Each student must - individually - submit the INLA (assignments) at the Canvas.

-          The INLA includes three assignments which will have a total of 10 p. (3p + 3p + 4 p).

-          Each student should submit the assignment by “Due” time specified at the Canvas.

-          If the student fails to submit the assignment by the “Due” time, then that specific assignment sill be graded “Zero”.

-          The most important factor in the INLA is the student explanation on how to reach the solution and how that can be supported by the textbook and the PowerPoints rather than the final answers itself.

-          The assignment report will be Plagiarism controlled. The similarities should not exceed than 10%.

  • The deadline for the INLaA has been defined at Canvas.

Table 2: Rating Criteria for ratings E - A

Rating P

perform calculations on flow machines

Solve basic problems within some parts of the course

calculate heat flows in different media

With some certainty

Apply the concept of efficiency in energy processes

Overview

demonstrate proficiency in fluid mechanics and heat transfer

With some certainty

use energy technology concepts

Overviewt

Completion for PROA will be made during the next course round offered in the next academic year or according to special examination.

If there are very special reasons for absence during the mandatory attendance exercise, the exercise may be carried out at the available opportunities. However, teachers must approve the switch. For those who are absent from the last scheduled practice group and if changes are not possible, the exercise may be performed during the course next academic year. No extra training session will therefore be organized.
