Course contents

The course comprises 6-7 combined lectures and exercises, where introduction to theory is mixed with concrete exercises using analytical tools. Apart from this there will be at least on literature seminar and a final written assignment that is formulated individually by the student but that needs to combine theoretical understanding with practical application in a concrete urban problem.

Intended learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to introduce and develop knowledge about contemporary theory and methodology on analytical urban morphology, especially urban morphology, density analysis and network analysis. After completing the course the participants shall have a basic knowledge of the field and be able to individually discuss and analyse texts, plans and different types of analytical tools typical for the field. The participants shall also have developed basic skills in some of the analytical tools in the field as well as some basic GIS skills.

  • MOM2 - Individual Assignment, 2,5 hp, betygsskala: P, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

Other requirements for final grade

The course contains two moments:

MOM1, Lectures, seminars and exercises, 5 HP. Betygsskala P/F

MOM2, Individual assignment, 2,5 HP. Betygsskala: P/F

To obtain final grade, both moments have to be passed. 80% attendance on all tuition is required.
