Functional requirements for buildings. Planning. Architectural gestaltung, Foundations and structure. The choice and analysis of structural elements. Selection of materials: Technology, environment, durability, aesthetics, economy. Building components: Foundation, floors, walls, sanitary, electricity. Sources of information for building materials and building services equipment, codes and test methods, grades of quality. Revision, documents, cost calculations.
AF2021 Building Design and Construction Project 15.0 credits
The course contains the planning and design of a building, technical solutions and the engineering design of the foundation, structure, building envelope and building services. The course includes practical application in a design project involving a four story residential building with other activities on the ground floor.

- have a fundamental understanding of the technical functions of a building concerning both its components and the system as a whole.
- have some skills in the various fields of design of a building.
- have insight into the role of the different professions.

- ÖVN1 - Exercises, 6.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
