AG2161 European Planning Systems 7.5 credits

Literature and project course on analysing planning systems, issues and traditions primarily within European countries and regions. Mainly for students with experiences from planning systems and/or planning education in Sweden or abroad.

Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Similarities and dissimilarities in national planning systems, traditions and issues. Experiences from cross-border planning. Examples from ongoing cross-border projects. In-depth study with systematic comparison of the planning contexts in two european countries.

Intended learning outcomes

After completing the course requirements students shall:

  • be able to analyse the differences between planning systems and how these affect planning practise.

Specific prerequisites

Knowledge corresponding to at least 60 credits in urban and regional planning.

Recommended prerequisites

At least 30 ects within urban and regional planning

Examination

  • ÖVN1 - Project Work, 6.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
  • LIT1 - Literature Seminar, 1.5 credits, grading scale: P, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

  • All members of a group are responsible for the group's work.
  • In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used.
  • In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
