Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Develop a project proposal where the thesis project's background, objectives, methodology, anticipated results and preliminary time schedule are described. Carry out the the planned research. Document the research project in a M.Sc. thesis including introduction,  literature review, objectives, methodology, results and discussion, and conclusion. Present and defend the research project and the thesis in a public seminar.

Intended learning outcomes

The thesis project is aimed to give students insights and experiences in scientific research. Through a research project, students will acquire skills to conduct literature review, analyze a new scientific problem, develop methodology, find a solution and evaluate the solution, and present the research project in oral and written form.

Specific prerequisites

In general the rule is that the main part of the studies should be completed before the thesis work is allowed to start. For students admitted to the Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Urban Management (CSAMH): at least 210 credits in completed program courses. For students admitted to a master program (of 120 credits): at least 60 credits in completed program courses.
The examiner decides whether the student has finished courses necessary for chosen topic of the thesis work.
