Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course is made up by seminars and lectures concerning research methods, literature search, and writing. A thesis should be written and orally presented as well as an opposition on other students' thesis'. The thesis should be written individually or together with one other student. During the writing of the thesis, students will receive continuous supervision. 

Intended learning outcomes

The student should:

  • Be able to apply relevant knowledge and skills that has been acquired during the program to a given problem.
  • Within given bounds, and with limited information, independently be able to analyse and discuss complex issues and be able to handle larger problems on an advanced level within the area.
  • Reflect about, evaluate and critically review their own and others scientific results.
  • Be able to document and present their own work, for a given group, with high demands on structure, formal requirements and language skills.
  • Be able to identify his/hers need of further knowledge and to be responsible for his/hers knowledge development.

Literature and preparations

Specific prerequisites

In general the rule is that the main part of the studies, at least 120 credits should be ready before the thesis work is allowed to start. The examinator must make sure that the student has focused in the relevant area (see last paragraph) and that the main part of the program is ready before the thesis work starts. Exceptions can be made by the person responsible for basic education. The bachelors thesis should normally be written during the last term of the program.
