Course contents
Intended learning outcomes
The basic aim of the course is to give an understanding of principles and methods for management of rental housing and commercial real estate.
After the course you should be able to:
- Explain what is included in the concept of real estate management.
- Apply cash flow analysis for investment in real estate and use benchmarking activities as a basis for diagnosis and prognosis
- Apply methods for management of real estate operations
- Apply methods for real estate maintenance
- Explain the principles underlying the rent formation process in the rental market and internally in companies
- Explain how ethical considerations form part of the property management business
Literature and preparations
Specific prerequisites
For single course students:
120 credits on university level including at least 35 credits in Economics and 15 credits in law.
Documented proficiency in Swedish B and English B or equivalent (TOEFL, IELTS e g).
Students in the Degree programme in Civil Engineering and Urban Management should have completed Samhällsekonomi (AI1107).

Examination and completion

- TEN1 - Examination, 4.5 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F
- ÖVN1 - Project, 3.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
