F1F5406 Distributive Justice and Land Development 7.5 credits

The course is structured as a combination of lectures and seminars. The introductory lecture gives an overview of concepts of justice, including distributive and procedural justice.

The seminars deal with different theories, where the participants are expected to be active and give a presentation at least two topics for discussion on each seminar.

The course is concluded with a final seminar, where each participant shall present an outline for a research study – within field of land development – that applies one or more theories of justice discussed during the course.

This course aims at offering an introduction to some central theories of justice – relevant to distribution of goods/benefits as well as distribution of costs. The ambition is not to give a complete in depth presentation of all possible theories and their theoretical foundations, it is rather to exemplify different viewpoints and how they can be applied and analyzed in scientific studies of land development.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

Active participation in lectures and seminars.

A short written memo shall be handed in before each seminar with topics to be discussed and – for the last seminar – the outline for a research study by e-mail to Thomas Kalbro (thomas.kalbro@abe.kth.se) at the latest the day before the workshop in question.
