Content and learning outcomes
The PhD student assimilates through independent studies the literature that has been assigned by the supervisor in the form of scientific articles, books, book chapters or other materials.
Intended learning outcomes
The PhD student shall develop her/his knowledge of a research literature of particular relevance for her/his doctoral studies.
Literature and preparations
Meet the requirements to be admitted to doctoral studies.
Assigned separately for each individual studies.
Examination and completion
If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
The examination shall be designed so that the examiner can be convinced that the PhD student has assimilated the entire course content.
