Intended learning outcomes
After finishing the course the student
- should be able to constructively criticize philosophical research papers and propose improvements.
- have a working knowledge of what is required of a philosophical paper to make it publishable in an international refereed journal.
- have a good orientation on the various methods used in philosophical research, such as conceptual analysis, precise definitions, linguistic analysis, textual interpretation, counterexamples, argument analysis, and formalization.

Reading material will be distributed throughout the course. S. O. Hansson, Verktygslära för filosofer (latest edition) will be used as a handbook during the course.

- SEM1 - Seminar, 7.5 credits, grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
Other requirements for final grade
The student's presence should correspond to at least 75 % of the seminars given during two academic years. The student should make at least four presentations of her or his own papers. Furthermore, the student should be well-prepared at the seminars and contribute to the seminars with comments on the papers presented.

- In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used.
- In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
