Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course consists of writing essays in combination with text analysis and lectures. It is given in both English and Swedish. Excercises are done during and before class and make up material for discussion and analysis in the group as a whole.

Intended learning outcomes

To be able to write well is central in almost all academic work. The objectives of this course is to gain a more reflexive and conscious relation to writing in order to be able to continuously improve. The ability to think and analyse is trained at the same time as writing is trained.

The objective is also to facilitate journal publication, or alternatively to improve the ability to author longer texts.

Literature and preparations

Specific prerequisites

Participants need to have shown how and in what way an excercise in writing can benefit their intellectual process. This is done through a reflection as part of the procedure of applying to the course.

Literature

The presumption is that learning by doing is superior. Hence the submitted texts will be the central reading. Added are already published texts which vary between years.
