This course covers the main aspects of research ethics, including the design and implementation of research involving human and animal experimentation, various aspects of scientific misconduct (such as fraud, fabrication of data and plagiarism), as well as codes of ethics and professional conduct. The course contributes to the goals 3.1, 3.2.

Intended learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to prepare doctoral students for their professional career. After completing the course, the student shall demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to work as a researcher according to the KTH goals for ethics in third cycle education. These include:

All accepted of ICT doctoral program students are eligible for this course. Accepted doctoral students from other KTH schools are also eligible for this course. It is recommended to take the course in the beginning of the doctoral program.
The course cannot be taken together with the course IL3606 The Art of Doctoral Research.
