FKA3020 Supervision Methodology for Undergraduate Projects 6.0 credits

The course aims to develop supervision skills in both theory and practice. Supervisory strategies are then applied in practice through the supervision of a group of students working with a chemistry related project.

Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the course participant is expected to:
- have knowledge and understanding of basic scientific theories in pedagogy with significance for supervision,
- be able to practically apply adequate pedagogical methods as supervisor by taking into account the student’s commitment, commitment, background and learning strategies,
- be able to supervise students individually and in groups using methodology that promotes effective and in-dept learning strategies, as well as plan and design learning activities for supervision of sustainable project within chemistry
- actively reflect on their own role as supervisor, and maintain a professional working relationship with students based on good communication (meta-communication) and constructive feedback.
Course disposition
The course includes a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part consists of seminars and exercises including problem-based discussion that illustrates real-life situations encountered while supervising. During the practical part participants will supervise students pursuing first level students project at CHE. A project with a sustainability perspective is designed for this purpose and is supervised by the participant.

- PRO1 - Project assignment, 3.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
- TEN1 - Home exam, 3.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.
The examination consists of a home exam and an assignment based on completed practical supervisory task.

- All members of a group are responsible for the group's work.
- In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used.
- In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
