Course contents
In this course mange and design of logistic structures will be described. This is a large area and the course will focus on the most usual mange and design issues. Even if the development strives against that larger and larger parts of a value added chain is managed and designed in common most decisions are still made by only one company. The course describes for example different supply strategies and logistic concepts such as vendor managed inventory (changed roles in a supply chain) and direct deliveries (stockless concepts).
Intended learning outcomes
This course will give the participants further knowledge in how different decisions about manage and structure influence the profitability and competitiveness of a company.
- apply basic logistic principles, models and tools to be able to analyse different types of logistic systems
- explain how logistics interacts with other areas in a company and with other companies and how logistic strategies cooperate with the strategies of the company
- account for the meaning of the concept of supply chain management
- account for different alternative logistic principles which support the logistic development
- account for and explain the dynamic effects which arise in a supply chain and how these can be resisted

Specific prerequisites
University studies of at least 120 credits (Swedish hp) and documented proficiency in Swedish B and English A or equivalent. In addition knowledge corresponding to the course 6S3701/HM1M00 The Logistic Process or similar.
