  • Basic concepts in the construction process, how a building project starts, the various parts of the sketch planning stage
  • Planning and tendering of contractors
  • How production is carried out with its various professional roles
  • Various administration objects – from co-operative flats to commercial properties

Intended learning outcomes

Outcomes to receive an E grade:

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Describe how the construction process works – from comprehensive plan to detailed development plan including the regulations that govern construction in a municipality, how a building permit application is handled including the regulations associated with the role of the quality manager
  • Explain the roles of the client and contractor, various forms of compensation and contracts, and the contract agreements that regulate the relationship between various parties in the construction market
  • Understand the role of a construction company in society and its job in the construction process
  • Understand the urban organisation of construction as it applies to construction legislation, environmental legislation, and other general environmental issues that apply to construction
  • working environment in the construction process
  • establishing a digital APD-plan
  • describing various steering methods for a construction project
  • establishing a simple schedule and production plan

  • PROA - Project, 1.0 credits, grading scale: P, F
  • TENC - Examination, 2.5 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F
  • TEND - Examination, 4.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
