Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course is interdisciplinary and contains evaluation theory, methodology and practice with an emphasis on policy and programme evaluations.

The main content is: 

- evaluation trends and developments

- evaluation design, implementation and reporting, including evaluation methods [här tänker jag att allt sådant som roller & kriteria ingår?)

- ethics and values reltated to evaluations

Intended learning outcomes

The overall aim is to provide deeper knowledge in the theory and practice of programme evaluation in the public service sector.After completing the course, students shall be able to:

- discuss and compare various theoretical perspectives on evaluation

- analyse a given design and the implementation of evaluations

- problematise the use of evaluations in policy and administration with a particular focus on education and knowledge-intensive organisations

- discuss ethical issues in programme evaluation

Kurslitteraturen består av en huvudbok och ett fåtal kompletterande vetenskapliga artiklar samt annat textmaterial. Dessutom tillkommer relevant kurslitteratur beroende på vald gruppuppgift. Information om huvudbok ges senast två månader före kursstart.
