Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

Exercises to understand spoken Spanish to hold your own conversations. Practical pronunciation and intonation exercises. Listening comprehension exercises of texts with general and technical content. Grammar and vocabulary exercises. Written exercises. General facts about the culture of Spanish-speaking countries, societies and technical development.

Intended learning outcomes

The expected learning outcomes for the course are mainly at the level A2 with certain elements at the level B1, according to CEFR, Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

On completion of the course, in addition to what is evident from courses at a lower level, the student should be able to:

  • use the language orally and in writing in everyday situations and simple work situations (A2)
  • understand and distinguish the main contents in clear standard speech about well-known subject areas (A2/B1)
  • identify and account for facts from authentic texts with technical connection in Swedish
  • hold a short individually prepared performance on the target language (A2/B1)
  • account for important facts about Spanish-speaking countries, and seek information related to their history, societies, geography, culture and technical development.

Specific prerequisites

General university entry requirements. Completed and passed Spanish A1 or the equivalent knowledge shown through a compulsory placement test made before applying for the course.

  • TENB - Written Language Proficiency, 3.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F
  • TENA - Oral Language Proficiency, 3.0 credits, grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, FX, F

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.
