Reading comprehension and basic Swedish grammar are further practiced in connection with the analysis of different texts. Students practice pronunciation, oral communication, and the ability to understand spoken Swedish in dialogues and conversations. Writing practice in the form of essays, simple letters, etc. Facts about Sweden, Swedish culture, society and technical development.

Intended learning outcomes
The expected learning outcomes of the course mainly refer to the level A2 according to CEFR, the Common European Framework of Reference for Language.
On completion of the course, the student should, in addition to what is expected from courses at a lower level, be able to:
Listening comprehension
· understand and recognise the main contents in clear standard discourse about well-known subjects (A2)
Reading comprehension
· identify the content in simple texts such as newspaper articles and simple popular science texts (A2+)
Speaking
· use the language in everyday and simple situations such as studies, work and leisure activities (A2)
· present some facts about Swedish society and culture (A2)
· give a short, individually prepared, presentation (A2)
Oral interaction
· participate in conversations that require a simple and direct exchange of information about well-known subjects (A2)
· participate in social conversations (A2)
Writing

General entry requirements. Completion of Swedish A1 or the equivalent knowledge demonstrated in a compulsory placement test taken before applying for the course.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.
