Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

During the course, the following fields are treated: the prosodic features of Swedish language (rhythm and intonation), the sound system of the Swedish language (vowels and consonants), pronunciation (stress, relaxed pronunciations). These are practiced on material retrieved from the participants' professional fields: words, phrases and texts that are characteristic for different types of professional oral communication.

Intended learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to give the participants specialised knowledge of Swedish pronunciation and tools to improve his own Swedish pronunciation.

After passing the course, the student should be able to:

-         Produce utterances with good Swedish rhythm and intonation

-         In speech, separate between long and short sounds

-         Actively use the most common relaxed pronunciations in Swedish speech

-         Stress the Swedish words and sentences in a correct way
