LS1706 Project Work and Entrepreneurship 7.5 credits

The course gives an introduction to different sides of entrepreneurship for engineers and architects by mixing theory with applied work in the form of case studies and other problem-based learning. We go through current theories and trends in entrepreneurship and innovation-driven technical activities, and link these to relevant and realistic situations. The course builds on elements from earlier courses in the programme with a special focus on entrepreneurial work. Studies are conducted in both individually and in small groups.

The course's aim is to develop the student's ability to plan, implement, document, and present technically aimed entrepreneurial project work in an efficient way.

After passing the course, the student should be able to:

Identify what characterises a well-working entrepreneurial organisation and assess the relative use of entrepreneurial thinking based on contextual factors such as organisation, financing opportunities, and market situation

Present a theoretically informed perspective on group dynamics in technically aimed project groups with special focus on success factors and impediments for efficient and successful project work

Describe, plan, and critically discuss a technical project's different phases from idea generation to business activities or other conclusions based on an entrepreneurial perspective

Identify entrepreneurial possibilities in their own vocational branch and compose a well-supported business plan adapted to the intended readers

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

The examiner may apply another examination format when re-examining individual students.

If the course is discontinued, students may request to be examined during the following two academic years.

The continuous examination consists of several assessment components and is described in the course information at the beginning of the course.

• All members of a group are responsible for the group's work.
• In any assessment, every student shall honestly disclose any help received and sources used.
• In an oral assessment, every student shall be able to present and answer questions about the entire assignment and solution.
