Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course builds on LS1601 Intercultural Competence and the students' own experiences from their studies abroad, intercultural internship or similar, which, together with LS1601, constitute the prerequisites for this course. The course is designed to help the participants further develop the skills required for communicating and working successfully in intercultural contexts, in both physical and virtual professional and technology-intensive environments.

  • The course gives a deepened understanding, based on theory and experience, of how personal and cultural variation and diversity influence understanding, feelings, decision-making, communication and teamwork.

  • We examine strategies and methods to strengthen inter-cultural understanding and interaction in technology-intensive environments, in order to value and utilise personal and cultural differences in a constructive, creative and ethical way.

  • The course covers global citizenship, sustainable development, leadership in physical and virtual professional and technology-intensive environments, and conflict management.

  • Documentation, reflection and reporting of intercultural experiences and learning is recognised as a step in personal and professional development, linked to employability.

  • The course is taught in English and purposefully takes advantage of the diversity of KTH.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, you should be able to:
