Before choosing course

The course deals with, and reflects upon, managerial and organizational issues of project management. This includes fundamental knowledge in project management of the singe project and also management of multi project settings. The course aims at including communication as a fundamental dimension of project management. THe course is possible to take as separate course. It is also INcluded in the course profile series on Project Communication and IT. The profile includes ME1400 Project Management and Communication, ME2037 Project Communication, ME2038 IT Management and ME2039 Knowledge Management.

Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The project idea and basic project concepts, project management models and tools, project planning, project organizing, project control, project communication, risk assessment and contextual awareness.

Intended learning outcomes

The course aims at providing fundamental knowledge on project management in different kinds of industrial settings. Having completed the course, the students will be prepared to work in industrial project settings. After the course the students will (1) be familiar to basic project models and project tools, (2) know the fundamental activities and responsibilities of the project manager from idea to handing over the project result to the customer, (3) be familiar with contextual complexity and its effects, (4) know the central project roles and their responsibilities, and finally (5) understand the role of communication in project settings.
