Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The main part of the course consists of independently carrying out a scientifically based investigation assignment, resulting in a written thesis. To ensure relevant, interesting and well-founded results, the work is based on knowledge in the area and it develops new knowledge by means of scientific theories and methods. The thesis work (Degree project) is usually within one of the following subjects: Econometrics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Industrial dynamics, Entrepreneurship, Financial economics, Economical geography, International economics or Institutional economics.

Intended learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to develop the student's ability and skill to structure a problem and to carry out an analysis in the area of Economics of innovation and growth. After completing the course (Degree Project, Second Cycle) the student should be able to:

  • Show considerably deepened knowledge in the area of economics of innovation and growth, including deepened knowledge of current research and development work.
  • Show deep method knowledge within economics of innovation and growth.
  • Show ability to contribute to research and development and thereby contribute to the knowledge development.
  • Critically, independently and creatively identify and formulate complex problems.
  • Plan and with adequate methods carry out qualified assignments within given frames.
  • Show ability to critically and systematically integrate knowledge
  • Orally and in writing clearly present and discuss his/her conclusions and the underlying knowledge and arguments.
  • Evaluate and give relevant feedback on other students' work
  • Make assessments, considering relevant scientific, social and ethical aspects related to his/her own study.
