  • The concept of risk from a scientific and social-technological perspective
  •  Methods for Environmental Risk Assessment
  • Risk in decision making processes 
  • Processes, methods and tools for conflict resolution
  • Risk perception and risk communication 
  • Project work on an ongoing or potential environmental conflict

Intended learning outcomes

After you have passed the course you should be able to:

  • Describe and explain the concept of environmental risk from a social-technological perspective 
  • Describe methods for environmental risks assessment and know the principles for how risks can be evaluated and communicated to different interest groups in decision processes
  • Describe and use existing methods and tools for conflict resolution strategies in cases in environmental risk management 
  • Critically examine how information and knowledge are used by different interest groups in existing conflicts 
  •  Analyse different frames held by stakeholders in an ongoing conflict. This means evaluation of how different people and interest groups develop their views on an  environmental conflict
