Welcome to Advanced Computer Graphics and Interaction AGI!
AGI will be a project-based course. We will hold the meetings in the Visualization Studio VIC. We will be motivated to create and publicly present some very impressive projects combining state-of-the art hardware, graphics, and interaction techniques in the context of original content and user experiences. You can look at examples from past years at our KTH Social DH2413 Page.
There will be two group projects in this course and two individual assignments. The course projects will account for 60% of your final grade and the individual assigments will account for 40%. In detail:
Projects: 60 points
Project 1: approx. 5 people; September - October - 35 Points
For each of the following deliverables, group gets 5 points

Content and learning outcomes
Course contents
Animation: Different methods to describe animation, object orientation and constraints for animation, tools to build animation, morphing.
3D interaction, virtual environments (VR) and visualization: different models for 3D interaction, hardware for 3D and VR, possibilities and limitations for VR, methods, tools. Visualization.
Multimodal interfaces: several modes in interaction, sound interfaces, haptics.
Perception: the human visual system, colour, perceptual graphics.
Assignments: VR, haptics, animation, rendering. Final task according to the student’s own choice.
Furthermore deepening assignment according to your own choice within computer graphics.
Intended learning outcomes
The students should after the course be able to
explain concepts and use methods within within areas such as local and global illuminations methods, texturing techniques, perceptual aspects relevant for graphics,
use modelling software such as Maya to build a model using a hand drawn sketch,
use a software/API such as OpenGL to import an object from modelling software and then further elaborate the scene with special effects,
write a survey paper within a limited area of computer graphics by using scientific papers from sources such as the SIGGRAPH conference,
build a simple deeping application within a limited area of computer graphics,
use established methods in advanced graphics and interaction,
take an active part in the development of new methods in advanced graphics and interaction.
Learning activities
Students will learn by:
reviewing online tutorials
researching creator tools such as Blender and Unity
creating prototypes of models, rigs, animations, interactions, illumination, shaders, and so on
presenting their prototypes
giving and receiving contructive feedback
demoing their projects in public
reflect on their learning in individual interviews
summarizing their learning objective in a report as a webpage

Preparations before course start
Recommended prerequisites
For those already studying at KTH: one of the courses DH2323 Computer Graphics and Interaction.
Specific preparations
Many students will benefit from tutorials about: Blender, Unity, and Unreal. Focus on skills: modeling, rigging, texturing, shading, illumination, animation, camera control, interaction control, plugings for input/output devices, such as HTC Vive HUD and controllers. It helps to know how to create and publish a webpage, which will be the report of your projects. Also, it will be very useful to know how to document code, manage projects, and branch and commit version controlled repositories. This course is very intensive and we are focused on creating new interactive graphics experiences from beginning to end.
