Course contents
Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to:
- describe the stages involved in the design process for a detached building
- carry out a design project, taking into account factors that influence the design of a detached building
- present a proposal for a site-specific building that takes into account the surroundings, the environment, regulations, the purpose of the building, the experience of the building and the construction of the building
- explain the rationale behind the architectural choices made in the design project
- account for the fundamental physical and perceptual properties of light, as well as related concepts and definitions
- describe the governing regulations concerning indoor lighting
- carry out a small-scale lighting design taking into account the room’s characteristics, materials and layout
- explain the choice of lighting with regard to sustainability and the environment
