Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

  • The course examines how an architectural refurbishment project develops from the briefing stage through a space allocation plan and on to the design brief. The project work is carried out in small groups.
  • The focus is on the workplace as an architectural environment, where students how current laws and regulations, as well as construction and building technology, influence design, and how societal changes have influenced and continue to influence the design of contemporary office environments.
  • Sustainability aspects relating to current and future office refurbishments form an important part of the course and are expected to be reflected in the spatial environments planned by the students.
  • A fundamental component of the course is the scheduled activities: site visits, lectures, seminars and tutorials. These provide the foundation for the course’s refurbishment project and address the topics covered in the course examination.

  • apply acquired knowledge of sustainable development in the design of workplaces
