An advanced course on the use and development of social media technologies, such as messaging, forums, blogs, wikis, feeds, social bookmarking, social networking systems, video- and photo sharing sites, mobile social media platforms and synthetic worlds. Course contents

  • Data driven analysis and evaluation of existing social media.
  • Conceptual design of new social media, or supplements to existing media, through models, scenarios, or prototypes etc

The design work is carried out in groups and is presented at the end of the course.

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student should be able to

  • discuss basic concepts for social media including networks, communities and political economy
  • discuss trust, reputation, attention, privacy, and communication in social media
  • analyse social media critically
  • design and document new concepts for social media.
