Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The student spends a substantial period of time in a school for classroom observation, teaching, and participation in the activities of the school. During this placement, the student is expected to plan, carry out and evaluate a larger course module in one of their subjects - under supervision, but with a high degree of independence. Much attention is given to leadership, communication and assessment.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

1. plan, carry out and evaluate lessons and larger teaching modules with contents in accordance with current policy documents

2. analyse and evaluate teaching that the student has planned and executed, supported by the subject knowledge required for teaching and learning in the subject(s) included in the student’s degree programme, and supported by research in educational science and proven experience

3. communicate in appropriate ways (orally and in writing) in teaching and collaboration with colleagues, and constructively reflect on these relations from ethical and learning-oriented perspectives

4. contribute to a good work environment and to the prevention of discrimination and harassment, by means of a leadership characterised by clarity, openness, learning, and dialogue

5. establish and communicate interdisciplinary perspectives in the pedagogical activities, such as equality, equal opportunities, sustainable development and ethics

6. discuss forms of assessment and grading in accordance with national policy documents, scientific knowledge, and proven experience

7. identify and analyse their own values and attitudes that have importance in the teaching practice and identify needs of further knowledge and skills for the future teaching practice, and discuss how these should be met
