My research focuses on bioinspired sustainable materials. Natural materials such as bones🦴, plants🌱, and wood🌳 have evolved over millions of years to develop sophisticated hierarchical structures that enable exceptional performance and adaptability to their environments. Mimicking these designs in synthetic materials provides an effective strategy for enhancing material sustainability. Driven by curiosity about nature and its design principles, my research aims to translate biological architectures into synthetic materials through advanced manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing, freeze casting, and self-assembly. Through these approaches, I seek to improve material sustainability by enhancing damage tolerance, extending lifespan, enabling materials reusability and promoting the efficient utilization of renewable resources.
