Om mig

I am a PhD student at the division of Energy System (KTH-dES). My research area focusses on using GIS-based methods to model Climate, Land-use, Energy and Water (CLEWs) interactions, with the aim to inform and motivate transboundary cooperation and to achieve sustainable energy and water management. Under the United Nations Economics Commission for Europe (UNECE) nexus framework, I worked on the development of the nexus assessment for the North Western Sahara Aquifer System (NWSAS) and currently, I am contributing to the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) project in collaboration with Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI) to support the implementation of the 2030 agenda in the NENA region countries.

I joined the division of energy systems analysis, in 2019 after completing my Master thesis in which I developed a GIS-based model to evaluate the electrical energy requirements for pumping, treatment and desalination of population and irrigation water in the NWSAS basin. Furthermore, the model assessed the impact of reclaiming wastewater, treating and reusing it for agricultural irrigation, identifying the least-cost wastewater treatment options for each region. I hold a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (UPB) and an MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering (KTH).
