Jesper Magnusson

Jesper is a PhD student in the department of Electromagnetic Engineering. The title of the project is "A Hybrid Switch Consisting of a Mechanical Device and Power Electronics" and investigates how solid-state breaker and switching topologies can be improved by adding a mechanical switch to carry the nominal current. The idea is to obtain the switching benefits of power electronics without their inherent high on-state losses to provide more control and stability in a smart electric distribution system.
