Katja Hogenboom
About me
Katja Hogenboom is a PhD, an architect, teacher, researcher, photographer, and doctoral candidate at the KTH School of Architecture, Stockholm.
Her PhD research -Situated Freedom - Exploring the Aesthetic Practice of Rem Koolhaas/OMA - explores what real, instrumental collaboration can be effected between architecture and freedom through architecture’s zone of competence. It contributes to the discourse within architecture relating to Deleuze & Guattari’s political project; working with their concept tools towards doing an architecture otherwise.
Hogenboom holds a degree in architecture ( (Msc) from the Technical University in Delft, The Netherlands. She worked in several offices in The Netherlands and Spain, where she was in charge of the design and realization of housing and public buildings (among them regional police headquarters), urban design projects, and exhibitions. In 2008 she started her own practice, (awarded with a grant from the cultural fund in the Netherlands) developing a practice where research, teaching and the practice of architecture form an integrated whole. In 2017 she designed the Asian Library, a pavilion on top of the existing university library in Leiden, the Netherlands. In 2010 Katja Hogenboom studio moved to Umeå, Sweden, where she worked as an education developer and teacher in the second year bachelors at the Umeå school of Architecture.
