Marta Peña Fernández

Marta is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Biomechanics at KTH Engineering Mechanics since November 2019. Her research interest is on the biomechanical characterisation of the growth plate region during skeletal development. Through a combination of mechanical testing, X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) and finite element modelling (FEM) her project aims at better understanding the role of local tissue mechanics on bone growth and skeletal morphology.

Formerly, she worked at the University of Portsmouth (UK) as a Postdoctoral Researcher (2018-2019). She received a PhD in Biomechanics in 2018 from the University of Portsmouth (UK), a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering in 2015 from the Université Paris-Descartes and ParisTech (France) and her BSc and MSc in Industrial Engineering in 2014 from the University of Seville (Spain).
