LEcA – a Landscape Ecological Assessment tool for REEEM

Role of technologies in an energy efficient economy – model-based analysis of policy measures and transformation pathways to a sustainable energy system.

Project description

The project REEEM is a large energy systems modelling project funded by the European Commission (Horizon 2020) and led by dESA, KTH, was launched in Brussels on 24-25 February. Meeting participants included the EC Project Officer, Policy officers from DG ENER, DG RTD and the JRC as well as partners from the REEEM consortium. This project will endeavour to model potential future pathways for the European energy system, its corresponding transformations and their respective impacts.

The LEcA Lithuania case study in REEEM is performed by the EMA Research Group, KTH, in cooperation with dESA, KTH, SLU, LEI and other partners. In the case study, the LEcA Tool will be applied in a case study in Lithuania, for an ecosystem services trade-off analysis and assessment integrated with an energy assessment model. The LEcA Tool was originally developed within the PhD project Integrated sustainability assessment of forest bioenergy options .

Collaboration

The LEcA Lithuania case study is a cooperation between KTH, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Lithuanian Energy Institute, Aleksandras Stulginskis University and Lithuanian State Forest Service.
